In the first episode, a souvenir wax lion becomes the first object to speak to Jaye. The show is driven by its offbeat sense of humor.

Wonderfalls also has a distinct visual style, with fast zooms, quick cuts and a clever transition device that uses the TV screen as a View-Master slide, unlike anything seen on Joan. Joan Girardi receives direct assignments from God (such as, “Join the debate team”), while Jaye’s orders (such as, “Get her words out!”) aren’t always as clear and she doesn’t know who or what or where they’re coming from. Joan is more family-oriented, while Wonderfalls has a more irreverent tone. But the shows really aren’t very similar. It’s easy to compare the show to Joan of Arcadia, which is about a girl receiving commands from God, who takes the form of various people. Jaye is the only one who can hear the stuffed lizards, lawn flamingos, mounted bass, and other objects when they speak, so she suspects she may be crazy, but their orders always lead her to help somebody by the episode’s end. Inanimate objects talk to her, giving her cryptic instructions, and if she doesn’t follow the instructions, the objects will never shut up. She has a philosophy degree, but she works in a gift shop in Niagara Falls. The four episodes that have aired so far have been funny, dramatic, and unpredictable.Ĭaroline Dhavernas stars as Jaye Tyler. It’s an entertaining comic drama with a premise based on quirky fantasy.

Thank you for visiting our Wonderfalls TV Show page!Ĭopyright © 1997-Present CrazyAboutTV.There’s a new series on FOX called Wonderfalls, Thursdays at 8 PM Central, 9 PM Eastern. Note: A Wonderfalls pilot was produced but it was never broadcast. Some of the Wonderfalls' writers were used as the voices for the muses. side! Oops!Ĭaroline Dhavernas had to rid herself of her French-Canadian accent in order to play the role of U.S. Problem is that the souvenir shop is supposed to be on the U.S. Sometimes you can even see the city of Niagra Fall, New York. Look very closely whenever there is a shot from the souvenir shop looking out at Niagra Falls and you'll notice that you are looking at the U.S. The actress who was first hired to play Mahandra McGinty was replaced in the middle of producing the Wonderfalls pilot so several scenes that had already been shot had to be redone!

One of those music videos is also available on the Dvd Set. They also jumped in and out of footage from the series. There were two music videos of the theme song "I Wonder Why the Wonder Falls" produced with Caroline Dhavernas and some of the other main Cast singing along and dancing.

FOX actually ran promos for "Crime Dog" and then decided to not air it! Their titles were: "Crime Dog", "Barrel Bear", "Muffin Buffalo", "Lovesick Ass", "Safety Canary", "Lying Pig", "Cocktail Bunny", "Totem Mole", and "Caged Bird". Nine episodes of the Wonderfalls TV show were produced but were not broadcast. The funniest one though was "Joan of Niagara" because it was a jibe at Wonderfalls' competition on CBS, " Joan of Arcadia". Among others were: "Animal Crackers", "Babble Head", "Normally Insane", "The Tchotchke Whisperer", and "What Ever Happened to Baby Jaye?". Wonderfalls was not the only title considered for the series. The items became animated and gave her short messages that instructed her to do things that make no sense at all! They claimed that the results of her not obeying their commands would be disasterous! Of course, she is the only one who can see them and wonders whether or not she was crazy!Ĭhelan Simmons. It was about a young woman who worked in a souvenir shop at Niagra Falls and got short messages from the souvenirs or anything with a "face" on it. Wonderfalls was a 60 minute fantasy series with a comical and dramatic twist that aired on the FOX Network.
